Girls and women are greatly underrepresented in STEM educational programs and careers. Women represent only 36.5% of university graduates in STEM fields, and another study showed that women comprised only 11% of those studying information and technology fields. The innovation and tech sectors have the greatest gender imbalance of all sectors, with its workforce comprising of only 37% women. Based on the current status of women’s participation in STEM, women will be left behind in Vietnam’s digital transformation and excluded from the prestigious and well-paying jobs of the future.
The business luncheon organised by EuroCham and its Women in Business Sector Committee, held just before Vietnamese Women’s Day, will address the following main questions arising from this issue:
• What policy changes in respect to education and retraining are necessary to ensure
women gain the necessary skills to equally participate in Industry 4.0?
• What can companies do to help encourage women to join STEM careers?
• What are some challenges faced in attempting to integrate women into the innovation
and tech sectors?
• What are some examples of success in integrating women into the innovation and tech
sectors?
You are invited to join and discuss with our esteemed panel, including Annica Witschard, the CEO of Home Credit; Vincent Choo Wing Sun, the Director of Investment Promotion of CT Group Vietnam; Kim Francois, the Executive Director of BeluxCham and a Board member of EuroCham and Jodie Altan, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor Engagement at RMIT University Vietnam!
