Hillridge has built a platform to help farmers buy targeted, affordable insurance against climate extremes such as droughts, typhoons, heat stress and too much rain. After launching Australia's first automated weather insurance platform for farmers in 2021, we raised a seed financing round in 2022, and in May 2023 signed with Bao Minh Insurance and MSIG Vietnam to launch typhoon and drought insurance products, respectively. The insurance is reinsured by Hannover Re and MSI Guaranteed Weather.
Our platform automates pricing, purchasing, risk management and claims processes, reducing the minimum cover size to put drought insurance within reach for smallholder farmers and larger farms alike. The weather data is based on satellite based infra-red imagery, making it scalable across Vietnam and beyond. Our platform also provides distribution opportunities for Vietnamese ag-tech providers, co-operatives, input providers, and buyers, and supports risk management across agri-loan portfolios.
