The International German School (IGS) is an intercultural place of learning. It welcomes children of all nationalities. The languages of instruction are German and English (Bilingual Programme). Classes of Vietnamese for native speakers are also available. French is taught as a foreign language. IGS offers preparatory language courses for students without knowledge of German.

Teaching in primary school and secondary school is based on the curricula for authorized German Schools abroad. As a result of this, students from IGS (International German School HCMC) may easily transfer into the European educational systems of Germany, Switzerland and Austria; as well as other international and national educational programmes.

For grades 11 and 12, the bilingual International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is intended to be established.

IGS is recognized and officially funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. It is part of a network of 140 German schools worldwide and is a member of the World Association of German Schools abroad.

With currently 240 national and international branches, the German Education & Crafts Foundation is the educational authority in charge of IGS.
