On 4 August 2026, EuroCham Vietnam, together with our Green Growth Sector Committee (GGSC) and Mobility Sector Committee (MSC), met with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), to discuss recommendations on the draft amendments to the Law on Environmental Protection and its implementing Decrees. The discussion focused on streamlining Environmental Licensing (EL) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), refining the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, and clarifying regulations on carbon credit ownership.
Led by Deputy Director General of the Environment Department Nguyen Hung Thinh with the attendance of senior representatives from technical divisions, the meeting demonstrated the MAE’s comprehensive approach to industry consultation. Most notably, the MAE has reflected several recommendations from EuroCham in the latest draft amendments of the Law on Environmental Protection.

Looking ahead, the Ministry encouraged EuroCham and our Sector Committees to contribute more actively as partners in developing practical regulations. As an example, the MAE invited EuroCham’s Mobility Sector Committee to propose an industry roadmap for EPR implementation, which could help shape future policy provisions.
EuroCham welcomes this collaborative public-private approach and looks forward to continuing our partnership with the MAE in developing practical, transparent, and effective environmental regulations in Vietnam.
Special thanks to representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and EuroCham Vietnam for their contributions.
