EuroCham members approved the organisation's budget for 2018 and voted in the new Executive Committee.
Attending the AGM, apart from a quorum of its corporate members, were also representatives from EuroCham’s individual Business Associations and representatives of European Diplomatic Missions. The EU Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Bruno Angelet, delivered a keynote speech.
The Executive Committee initially reported on the activity year 2017. EuroCham showed consistency in the number of members accounted for after its renewal period, counting 950 members at the year end - which continues to place it among the largest foreign business associations in Vietnam and one of the biggest in the ASEAN region. Apart from EuroCham’s primary scope of work through dialogue with Vietnamese authorities, last year EuroCham organised 3 times more Government Meeting than the previous year, EuroCham also offered its members 90 events, well more than one event per week. EuroCham was also featured prominently in Vietnamese media with hundreds of news articles and TV appearances. The coverage originating in its yearly Whitebook Launch event earlier this month is a good example of the attention the Chamber has been receiving recently.
The goals and activity outlook for 2018 were presented, aiming at further growth in membership, greater cooperation with Business Associations, and initiatives to promote sustainability among businesses; as well as an enriched event calendar through a mix of business and social events to be carried out in the big cities and in the provinces where EuroCham has opened Chapters. The Chamber's 2018 agenda also includes a number of special initiatives to mark its 20th anniversary.
Through a ballot vote audited by Deloitte Vietnam, a quorum of EuroCham’s members elected the new Executive Committee. Part of the new group (directly elected) will be in office for the next two terms (until March 2020). The Executive Committee 2018 consists of 8 (eight) elected members and 7 (Seven) representatives appointed by EuroCham’s affiliated Business Associations, namely:
