24 January 2018, Dong Xoai - The EuroCham Southeastern Vietnam Chapter was introduced to the Binh Phuoc provincial Government in an introductory meeting that served the purpose of establishing closer relations between the Chamber and local authorities.
welcomed the EuroCham delegation to Binh Phuoc
The two sides introduced themselves for the first time in the recent past, explaining priorities and exchanging input on cooperative action could be put forth in the future. The Binh Phuoc delegation was led by Mr. Nguyen Anh Hoang – Director at the Binh Phuoc People’s Committee’s Department of Industry and Trade – and included also relevant leaders of the Planning and Investment and External Relations departments.
The Binh Duong’s People’s Committee began by thanking EuroCham for its visit to the province, pointing out that its trade and investment priorities in the near future will focus on Solar Energy and Agri-business. Mr. Hoang pointed out that the province is bracing for more development, having authorised the allotment of more than 15 industrial parks and zones, most of which already concluded. Binh Phuoc was described as a province open for business, whereby logistics and warehousing infrastructure has been a concern and in strong development in the preparation for more investment in the future. Here, the opportunities that may arise from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement entering into force were also underlined.
Much in line with EuroCham’s principles, the Binh Phuoc Government expressed that the province wishes to attract not just any kind of investment, but one that is responsible and sustainable, having the protection of the environment in mind. This was also the context in which Mr. James described EuroCham’s approach, to be also carried out in local action driven by the recently created Southeastern Vietnam Chapter – which introduction and related explanation was welcomed by the Binh Phuoc government representatives present.
The discussion also counted on the contribution of Mr. Paul Tonkes of member Becamex IDC, who praised Binh Phuoc’s efforts to dynamise investment, making reference to the sound development of Becamex IDC’s industrial park in the province.
