In the morning of May 10th, 2017 Mr. Jens Ruebbert - the Chairman of European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) had a meeting with Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, chairman of Hanoi People's Committee (PC).
Mr. Jens Ruebbert thanked Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung for welcoming EuroCham to the Hanoi PC office. EuroCham represents the voices of the European business community in Vietnam with its 16 Sector Committees, 8 Business Associations and over 950 members with the goal to support the businesses community and the Government to advocate, improve the business environment and contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable development.
At the Meeting, Mr. Rubbert cherished the good relationship between EuroCham and Hanoi People's Committee in the past and hoped to strengthen the connection in the year to come. In the light of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which is expected to come into effect in 2018, EuroCham believes that Hanoi has a window of opportunities to position itself as an attractive investment destination and trading partner for European businesses. EuroCham would like to took this opportunity to explore further opportunities for cooperation in advocacy activities on relevant topics for both sides:
- EuroCham shared the Communication plan with Hanoi People's Committee regarding the EVFTA experiences, promote and implement the agreement.
- EuroCham also willing to illustrate it experiences in building and managing Smart City, making it green and efficient.
- EuroCham would be happy to be the bridge between EU Companies, Hanoi Authorities and Entrepreneurs for Business matchmaking, Cultural and Social Networking.
