25 October 2013 - CropLife Vietnam in collaboration with six local sub-Plant Protection Departments, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, is holding its 2nd Stewardship Day simultaneously at six provinces in Mekong Delta on 25 October 2013. With bigger reach-out scale, Stewardship Day 2013 is expected to attract more than 2,500 farmers for the purpose of "Effective and responsible use of crop protection products."
Launched for the first time in Vietnam in 2012, the Stewardship Day caught huge interest from both local authorities and farmers with its one-day seminar and training. As a result, this year, for the sustainability of the initiative, CropLife Vietnam (comprised of 6 member companies: Arysta LifeScience, BASF, Bayer, Dow AgroSciences, Du Pont, Syngenta) decides to enlarge the scope of Stewardship Day 2013, covering 36 district units and communes in six Mekong Delta provinces, namely An Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Long An and Tien Giang.
Aiming at wider coverage not only in provinces and among farmers, CropLife Vietnam made an effort to attract optimal attention from both the media and the public towards the theme "Effective and Responsible Use of Crop Protection Products" with a Press Conference held on 24 October 2013 in HCMC, one day prior to the main event day at the 06 provinces. The outcomes are encouraging thanks to active involvement from the press who showed interest in raising public awareness on this issue.
