On 1 October 2025 in Hanoi, the National Data Centre (Ministry of Public Security) organised a Consultation Conference on the draft Decree guiding the identification, authentication, and product origin tracking activities. The meeting welcomed key leaders, including:
- Lieutenant Colonel Dao Duc Trieu – Director, Data Innovation and Exploitation Centre
- Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong – Director, National Data Centre
- Colonel Nguyen Thanh Vinh – Deputy Director, National Data Centre
Representing EuroCham Vietnam was Ms. Le Thi Hoai Thuong – member of Nutritional Foods Group’s (NFG) technical working group.
Why it is important to track full product lifecycle
Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong highlighted the growing complexity of counterfeit goods, imitations, and trade fraud. While some ministries and sectors have developed their own traceability systems, they lack interoperability, making it difficult to oversee the full product lifecycle.
Improvements introduced by the draft decree
The draft Decree aims to:
- Promote the adoption of advanced and strategic technologies (AI, blockchain, big data, etc.) in quality management,
- Support transparent supply chains that meet international standards, and
- Build technological tools for monitoring, early warning, and timely enforcement—ensuring market order, economic security, and the protection of citizens’ legitimate interests.
At the conference, representatives from ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ministry of Finance, along with experts and business representatives, shared insights and recommendations to improve the draft. They also proposed mechanisms, policies, and practical solutions for effective implementation.
For businesses, this unified platform will help demonstrate product origin, reduce costs, strengthen competitiveness and compliance with international standards.
