On 19 August, at the Reunification Hall, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City hosted a diplomatic banquet to mark the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
The event welcomed distinguished guests, including:
- Mr. Nguyễn Văn Được – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City;
- Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada – Consul General of the Republic of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City;
- Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City;
- Consuls Generals and representatives of consular missions;
- Chief representatives of international organizations in Ho Chi Minh City; and
- Representatives of several prominent foreign enterprises.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Được, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, paid tribute to the sacrifices of previous generations, highlighted the nation’s achievements, shared appreciation to international friends, and emphasised Ho Chi Minh City’s aspirations to foster a favourable environment for sustainable growth.

Reflecting on Vietnam’s historic milestones, he highlighted the sacrifices of previous generations and the nation’s great achievements over the past 80 years of independence, 50 years of reunification, and nearly 40 years of Đổi Mới (Reform).
Addressing nations worldwide, international partners, foreign investors, and global friends, especially the overseas Vietnamese community, Chairman Duoc also expressed his gratitude for their trust, support, and invaluable contributions to the city’s development over the years.
Looking forward, he emphasised Ho Chi Minh City’s aspiration to continue receiving the companionship, attention, support, and close cooperation of international friends and partners. Through the efforts of diplomats, Consuls Generals, and representatives of international organisations in the city, Ho Chi Minh City aims to foster a favourable environment for sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
