On 11-12 July Da Nang played host to a significant healthcare event, as industry leaders and policymakers convened for the Business Dialogue Conference organized by the Infrastructure and Medical Device Administration (IMDA) of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The two-day conference saw active participation from EuroCham’s Medical Devices and Diagnostics Sector Committee (MDDSC), underlining the growing collaboration between European businesses and Vietnamese authorities in shaping the future of healthcare in the country.
Day one of the conference focused on discussions surrounding the Medical Device Law and Common Submission Dossier Template (CSDT) training, while day two delved into the intricacies of medical device management.
Representatives from the EuroCham MDDSC Regulatory Affairs Working Group took center stage, sharing valuable insights on several crucial topics. They highlighted the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MDDSC and IMDA, aimed at enhancing the medical device legal framework and technology application in Vietnam.
The speakers provided a comprehensive overview of medical device management in Vietnam and relevant regulations. They also addressed the progress of market access licensing for medical devices, proposing solutions for implementation in late 2024 and early 2025. These proposals included streamlining the legal system on healthcare management to align with international standards and simplifying administrative procedures related to medical devices.
A significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to capacity building, emphasizing the need to improve professional qualifications for management agencies, enterprises, and end-users of medical devices. The importance of education on the safe and effective use of medical devices was highlighted, along with the necessity of implementing a robust after-sales monitoring system.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Loi, Director of IMDA, commended the contributions of EuroCham MDDSC. The conference marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between EuroCham and Vietnamese authorities, reinforcing their shared commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility, safety, and innovation not just in Vietnam, but across the ASEAN region.
