On 9th November 2017, in Ho Chi Minh City – the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) organised the EuroCham Green Day, comprising three events dedicated to Green business, and particularly water management solutions. It took place as part of the VietWater 2017 event.
The EuroCham Green Day opened with the official Launch of the first edition of EuroCham's Greenbook, the first publication dedicated to offering an overview of the state of affairs in Vietnam regarding renewable energy, water and waste management, smart cities and green building. Its contents deal not only with business opportunities, but also regulatory matters and recommendations to improve the green business environment in Vietnam. The book also showcases success stories of projects in Vietnam undertaken by European businesses and other EuroCham members, while showing who is who in terms of Green business expertise in Vietnam in a comprehensive company directory.
Beyond this publication, EuroCham also launched the interactive Greenbook website, the first portal of its kind in Vietnam, a platform for companies operating in green business to promote their services and achievements in Vietnam. The Greenbook portal is also a centralised source of information when it comes to news and events on the subject.
The Greenbook Launch was followed by the 3rd edition the EuroCham Smart City Series events. On this occasion, the conference was dedicated to “Water Solutions”. The event, driven by the EuroCham Green Growth Sector Committee (GGSC) was a key event featuring exclusive updates on the industry and a discussion with top-level experts, business leaders, and Government officials dealing with Water Management, Water Treatment and Water Efficiency in Vietnam.
Tomaso Andreatta – Vice Chairman of EuroCham, Chairman of GGSC –, in charge of moderating the event, commented on the importance of the EuroCham Green Day saying that these events are at the core of EuroCham’s mission as a chamber that stands for sustainable and environmentally conscious business. Eurocham has several members that offer services and products to improve the quality of the environment and of living, while being committed to conducting their business in a socially and environmentally responsible way. When there is a need, Eurocham branches out to companies in Europe in order to address issues that may not yet have a solution in Vietnam, knowing that the principles guiding our members always touch upon cooperation, knowledge-sharing and flexibility. The EuroCham Greenbook showcases their expertise and these principles, presenting tangible evidence of the work EuroCham and its members are carrying out in Vietnam. Our discussions today, at our 3rd event of the EuroCham Smart City Series, were dedicated to water management solutions. This event again showed how eager European businesses are to cooperate with the Vietnamese authorities, the local business community, and citizens at large for a more sustainable future for this country. EuroCham's role is to facilitate this cooperation and to offer Vietnam the option to be a more liveable country in the future.
Delphine Rousselet – Project Director of the EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN) – "Being present at VIETWATER 2017 for the 3rd time as part of our yearly Green Technology Trade Mission to Vietnam with a very successful European Pavilion [booth K34], bringing in latest technology in green sector from various leading European countries – EVBN is pleased to have been able to make the most of this event by also cooperating with EuroCham in organising this Green Day."
Guru Mallikarjuna – Managing Director of Bosch Vietnam – said “As one of the largest European investor in Vietnam, Bosch would like to improve quality of life, and help conserve natural resources by implementing green projects in the country. Green Challenge and Wastewater Treatment stories are told in the EuroCham Greenbook, which I believe is an important platform to highlight not just Bosch’s but European expertise in general when dealing with the question of sustainability. In this book, we are pleased to share how Bosch’s technology could make a valuable contribution to people, society and environmental sustainability”
