On 9 February 2026, EuroCham’s Vice-Chair Jean-Jacques Bouflet, Executive Director Delphine Rousselet, and Event & Administrative Manager – South Nhung Nguyen attended the 2026 New Year Reception for Foreign Representative Offices in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
Organised by the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA) at the HCMC People’s Committee, the reception welcomed city leaders, together with representatives from municipal departments and agencies, trade and investment promotion organisations, diplomatic missions, international organisations, and friendship associations operating in HCMC. Distinguished guests included:
- Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Politburo Member and Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee;
- Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee;
- Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Vice Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee
HCMC’s impressive achievements in 2025
Speaking at the reception, HCMC People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc highlighted the city’s outstanding achievements in 2025. At 8.2 billion USD, HCMC was a nationwide leader in attracting Foreign Direct Investment, including 2 billion USD invested in science, technology, digitalisation, and innovation. Chairman Duoc also emphasised the successful opening and operation of the Vietnam International Financial Centre in HCMC, advancing the city’s influence in regional development. Every achievement, he noted, all received the strong support from international cooperation, particularly through Consular delegations and the international business community.
2026: The year of double-digit growth for HCMC
In 2026, HCMC set the goal for double-digit growth, growing fast but sustainable. Chairman Duoc expressed hope that international organisations will continue to be the city’s trusted partners in trade cooperation, technological transfer, high-quality human resource training, and developing future economic sectors.
Representing international organisations in HCMC, Mr. Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich, Consulate General of the Russia Federation commended Vietnam’s and HCMC’s stable economic and investment growth and expressed gratitude to HCMC leaders for the practical support to diplomatic delegations.
