EuroCham bridges European and Vietnamese green growth strategies at IEIF 2024

The International Economic Integration Forum (IEIF) 2024 convened on 16 August 2024, at the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. EuroCham Vietnam’s Vice-Chairman in Charge of Advocacy, Jean-Jacques Bouflet, was among the speakers at this event, which formed part of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum 2024 (HEF).

Organised by the Institute for Development Studies in Ho Chi Minh City (HIDS) and the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), the forum brought together experts and representatives from various organisations.

The event focused on “Promoting New Economic Models Towards Sustainable Development,” with discussions covering Vietnam’s progress in digitalisation and green transformation.

Mr. Bouflet’s presentation, titled “Green Growth Models: International Experiences and the Transition Process for Vietnam,” covered several key points:

  • The EU Green Deal and its potential relevance to Vietnam
  • Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam in sustainable development
  • Lessons from European experiences
  • Suggestions for Vietnam’s sustainability transition

Other notable speakers included Dr. Tran Du Lich, Vice President of VIAC, and Pham Binh An, Deputy head of HIDS.

The IEIF 2024 provided a platform for exchanging ideas on promoting sustainable economic growth in Vietnam. As the country works on balancing development with environmental concerns, such discussions aim to contribute to informed policy-making and business practices.
