Discussing Circular Economy initiatives in Vietnam with Norwegian Ambassador

On 25 June, EuroCham and our Green Growth Sector Committee welcomed H.E. Ms. Hilde Solbakken, Ambassador of Norway to Vietnam, alongside representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, for an exchange on advancing circular economy initiatives in Vietnam.

Avenues for collaboration

The discussion focused on the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the potential application of Deposit Return Systems in Vietnam. Both sides exchanged insights on the evolving regulatory landscape, practical experiences from European markets, and the opportunities and challenges of adapting international best practices to Vietnam’s local context. Delegates underscored the importance of developing effective, inclusive, and economically viable solutions that support resource efficiency, strengthen recycling systems, and contribute to Vietnam’s long-term circular economy ambitions.

Next steps

Looking ahead, both sides reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen cooperation through a technical-level meeting, providing an opportunity for experts and industry representatives to continue exchanging knowledge and exploring pathways for collaboration.

EuroCham also shared updates on the upcoming Growth Economic Forum & Exhibition 2027 (GEFE), which will serve as a premier platform for dialogue, innovation, and partnership. We look forward to welcoming Norwegian stakeholders to contribute to this flagship event and further deepen cooperation in support of Vietnam’s green transition.

EuroCham remains committed to facilitating meaningful dialogue between policymakers, businesses and international partners, fostering collaborative solutions that advance sustainable growth and accelerate Vietnam’s transition towards a greener and more circular economy.
