APRIL| Week 1-2

I. Advocacy in Events

1. Seminar on Creation of a favorable business environment – Promoting trade facilitation in Vietnam | Hanoi, 04 April 2017

Vice-Chairman Dr. Gellért Horváth represented EuroCham at the seminar Creation of a favorable business environment – Promoting trade facilitation in Vietnam, co-organized by MUTRAP and the Vietnam Private Sector Forum (VPSF), composed by key Government representatives from the central Government, and several departments under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDC).

This event was a good dialogue opportunity for EuroCham, Vietrade/MOIT, and VPSF, having focused on possibilities for further cooperation, especially in regards to Whitebook 2017 issues. Dr. Gellért Horváth and Ms. Do Thu Thuy – Vice-Chairwoman of EuroCham's Transportation & Logistics Sector Committee, also exchanged greetings with Dr. Ngo Phan Hai, Director of  the Agency of Administrative Procedure Control; Mr. Bui Huy Son, Director of Vietrade (MOIT); Mr. Luong Hoang Thai, Director-General of the Multilateral Policy Department (MOIT); Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, Deputy Director-General of Customs Control and Supervision Department (MOIT); and Mr. Dao Huy Giam, General Secretary of VPSF.

2. Vietnam International Smart Tech Show 2017 | Ho Chi Minh, 12 April 2017

Mr. Amanuel Flobbe, Chairman of EuroCham Information and Communications Technology Sector Committee attended the Vietnam International Smart Tech Show 2017, which took place between 12 and 14 April in Ho Chi Minh City. At the event, and on behalf of EuroCham, Mr. Flobbe had the opportunity to discuss relevant topics with Mr. Le Minh Tri, Deputy Director General of the Southern Mission Department  (Ministry of Information and Communications), as well as with representatives from the Ho Chi Minh Investment & Trade Promotion Center, and the Trade Promotion Department (MOIT).

 

II. Sector Committee Updates 

 

[11th April] Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued Decision 11/2017/QD-TTg: to support mechanisms for the Development of Solar Power Projects in Vietnam. This Decision is valid from 1st June, 2017 until 30th June, 2019. The EuroCham advocacy team compiled the most important highlights of the Decision: please consult here.

 

[7th April] Provided comments on draft Circular guiding Decree 20/2017/ND-CP: on transfer pricing to General Department of Taxation under Ministry of Finance

 

[5th April] Provided comments on Circular 38 regarding customs procedures and customs supervision to GDC, and on the Plan on support for enterprises as reliable partners for development to HCMC Department of Customs.
