Energy and Power Supply in Vietnam 2011

Over the past two or three years, enterprises in Vietnam have faced increasingly power cuts and power quotas, especially in the South. The issue is not only the lack of power, but rather lack of advance information, making it difficult for many enterprises to intelligently adapt and coordinate production plans in order to remain efficient. Many companies have therefore taken own actions: They boost production during low tariff hours, and stop or reduce production during peak-price. Even though this problem is not unique to Vietnam, many companies and their customers worry about the months to come and how much impact there will be.

At our luncheon today co-hosted with Vietrade, we will discuss how EVN could optimize coordination with enterprises on planning power quotas and other measures; and how to raise awareness on how industries are related to one another, and which industries are critical or not.
