Membership Types and Regulations

EuroCham offers membership to all individuals, companies and organizations, regardless of nationality.

Please read the information below to see which type of membership suits you and your company or organization best:

1.1 Membership of EuroCham is divided into 3 categories:

(a) Ordinary Members which may be either:

(i) Ordinary Corporate Members: companies in good standing which are established under the laws of any European Union Member State (EU Member State) or which are majority-owned subsidiaries of such companies or which can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee that they have substantial ties to the EU, and which have a legal presence in Vietnam in a form permitted by the laws of Vietnam; or

(ii) Ordinary Individual Members: individuals of good standing who are nationals of any EU Member State and who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee that they are actively involved in business, trade, investment and/or other permitted activities in Vietnam and who are ordinarily resident in Vietnam.

(b) Associate Members which may be either:

(i) Associate Corporate Members:

(A) companies in good standing which are established under the laws of Vietnam; or

(B) companies in good standing which are established under the laws of any EU Member State or which are majority-owned subsidiaries of such companies or which can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee that they have substantial ties to the EU and Vietnam but which do not have a legal presence in Vietnam in a form permitted by the laws of Vietnam.

(ii) Associate Individual Members: individuals of good standing who are nationals of any EU Member State and who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee that they are actively involved in business, trade, investment and/or other permitted activities in Vietnam and/or the EU but who are not ordinarily resident in Vietnam.

(c) Honorary Members: individuals who have made, or are likely to make, a special contribution to EuroCham and who are invited by the Executive Committee to become Honorary Members of EuroCham.

1.2 Persons who are working for companies which are eligible to become Members shall become either Ordinary or Associate Corporate Members, as the case may be, not Individual Members.

1.3 Subject to 1.4 below, each Ordinary Corporate Member shall be entitled to nominate two of its officers or employees to enjoy the rights and benefits of membership of EuroCham.

1.4 Any Ordinary Corporate Member which is either a publicly listed company or has over 500 employees in Vietnam shall be entitled to nominate four of its officers or employees to enjoy the rights and benefits of membership of EuroCham.

1.5 Only one officer or employee of an Ordinary Corporate Member shall have the right to vote, notwithstanding that more than one of its officers or employees shall enjoy the rights and benefits of membership of EuroCham.

1.6 Each of the Parties will establish and maintain the same membership criteria throughout the term of this Agreement.

Important note on membership with one or more of our affiliated European National Business Associations.

EuroCham is a confederate organization with affiliation agreements with five National Business Associations in Vietnam, these being the Belgium Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (BeluxCham), the Dutch Business Association Vietnam (DBAV), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) and the Nordic Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (NordCham) Hanoi chapter.

Individuals, companies and organizations who join one or more of these National Business Associations automatically become a member of EuroCham, at no additional cost. Members will then receive a membership card proving membership of both organizations and be a recipient of benefits from both associations. Members who join EuroCham through one or more of the affiliated National Business Associations are afforded the same rights and benefits as those who join directly.

Members who join EuroCham first cannot then join one or more of the National Business Associations as part of their EuroCham membership fee. They must pay the fee(s) to join the National Business Association(s) separately. We therefore advise applicants to view our affiliated National Business Associations’ websites and contact them directly regarding membership with their association.
